Corporate Chic

Corporate clothing has to be a safe bet, it can either mess up things for you or play the game for you. So what's the new age office chic all about ??? sheath dresses ?? sheer tights ?? pumps ?? Hell yeahhh ..... i mean nothing can beat that dress code but is it acceptable everywhere ? time to get real ,we all don't work for a hi-end magazine house kind of a workplace where the editor would walk styled in the same and throw all that unwanted tantrums( remember the devil wears prada) or atleast it maybe acceptable in the metros but what about other cities? FYI India has only 6 metro cities). To my knowledge i ve never come across any such office chica dressed same, the least would be to see girls getting out of various air hostess training insti but then that's not even nice to look at(atleast to my eyes it is not) but today what i see in kochi is alot of western formals and trust me you ll be shocked to see these women dressed formally and amuses me that wow how times have changed, and i find one such chica in my office , my bestie who looks nothing but a hottie... trust me you should see her adaa and the grace. She leaves no chances of dressing up and is always dressed to nine(maybe this is what customer interaction does to people, wink)

Jo is a super fashionable chica and i love shopping spree with her(too much fun) and as my blog is mostly about street style fashion i thought of putting her pictures and corporate chic would be the ideal tag for this and why not what better way than starting my picture treat with her on my post. ( no no i wasnt paid for this, haha)

Jo has styled her corporate look by wearing a striped shirt and basic black formal trousers where she added the much needed glam by adding the waist coat and that lace just earned her brownie point ( well not because i lust lace :p)

so thats my corporate chica for you, leme know if u spot any such hot shot corporate chica at ur work place.

Drool worthy - For your eyes only !!

In the immortal words of Carrie Bradshaw "I may not understand men, but shoes. Shoes I understand."

Exactly my words. The colours, the make, the size, and most importantly the heel, how we women love looking tall, long legged lasses. Over the years my affair with shoes has grown manifold and has blossomed into a full-fledged romance(Lets not even get into the number of pairs i own).I was always a flats or slip on person cuz being 5"4 i always considered myself average tall and didn't feel the need to wear heels. Enter the corporate world and bang all i need are a pair of stunning pumps with acceptable heels. They not only make me look tall but also make me feel confident as i walk around and inside me i feel nothing but a diva. Trust me, wear a basic tee and a jeans and tag them along with a pair of heels,it will revamp your look completely and bring that much required glam.

My mom would be the right person to tell you this, my favorite past time is to go online and check out the various look books and drool over the stunning shoes in every color and make one can think of. Below are such beauties that i ve been having my eyes on. Hope you drool at them the same like I ve been.

I ve been drooling over these stunners for quite sometime, such a visual delight these are... hope you enjoy them too. and talking about price tags, well lets not even get into it .... :P

Loot !!

Store Alert

So the other day me and my super adorable bestie happen to do something we love the most, shopping ofcourse. Do we even need a second thought for that ?? so after a couple of random buys we happen to come across this store called THE LOOT , it looked nice from the exterior and inside me i felt the store was calling me (Alright i feel the same for all the stores that sell shoes, bags and clothes). So we hit the store and I was like ehhh why would anybody have Gulshan Grover as their ambassador of all the celebrities and then i realise its a discount store for all the amazing brands. so yeah looks like the name, ambassador and the whole concept of the store falls in place.Loot because its a store that sells branded clothing and accessories on discount throughout the year. Yes, can you believe that. We needn't wait for a season or a festive sale or incase of branded luxury even clearance. Simply put, a multi branded store.

THE LOOT is located at The Gold Souk in the basement closely next to the big bazaar. So why am i all praise for the shop, well why wouldn't I ?? i get a Levis on 25% to 60% off i would only be insane to not buy it, I buy French connection and that too at a dirt cheap price. I buy other brands and i get another piece free. Now don't you think i would be nothing but a stupid retard woman to not buy them ?? So what does the store have for us, well it boasts of  brands like Levis ( for all the girlies they also have the curve id collection), Puma, FCUK, Lee, Adidas to name a few. They have clothing, accessories, footwear, and caps. The amazing collection of caps they have is just drool worthy (if somebody happens to go there, please count the number of caps and let me know the count :p)

The store has an interesting trial room, it looks nothing but a prison. Certainly serves the name right. Loot - Prison , get the click ?? haha....  Apart from this they have really nice people as the store incharge, very friendly and would go that one extra mile to help you get your piece. Took some pictures of the store for you to see

Gulshan Grover for the store

The Loot - Prison

                                                                    spot me if you can

And for those who didn't know the store also has a story behind it, care to read ?? click here

Until then wishing you lots of shopping. Let me know your store experience.

I Give a Hoot !!

Hello Lovely people... whoever reading this hope that you are in the pink of health.... so today was a fun day, was out with my sister shopping bought some lovely stuff, infact any day is a good day if there is shopping involved. All Hail Retail therapy !! i am sure all the girlie's out there would agree with me.

I wanted to do a post today. I hate the fact that i don't do it regularly so this was topping my list for tonite, why tonite ?? i do all my blog post late in the wee hours of the night. Thats the way i like it. No wonder mom calls me an OWL !! being nocturnal is fun in its own ways. Its so quiet and calm at this late hour. (Blissful in its own way) Talking about owl lately i ve been noticing alot of OWL. Noticing where ?? well almost everywhere looks like its the new in thing. I ve seen a couple of celebrities spotting the owl pendant. Spotted someone wearing an owl print t-shirt. You name it and there is an owl print on it. I ve spotted these on t-shirts, pendants, earrings, bags, mobile cases, sandals, belts, hair clips.... ok stop the list just goes on and on. A little research and i get to know that its a fall 2011 accessory now that's the cause of all the spotting of the hoot oops the owl.

Do you give a HOOT to any of the pieces ??

Some of the celebs spotted wearing these fabulous pieces are

Sonam Kapoor                                 Shweta Salve                                        Pooja Bedi

                            Carol Gracias

My personal favourite piece among the jewellery is this gold/silver, i love the fact that it has a vintage feel to it.

How HOOT are they ??

and funny it may sound but then i think of these pieces and imagine myself wearing it something like this for a casual day out . I feel the white shirt is the apt base for the piece and thus an attention grabber.

Honestly, I ve always associated owls to petrifying horror, dark haunting rooms, ghostly figure all of that and i ve also heard that they have the ability to turn their heads around making them even more spooky but after seeing these pretty pieces who wouldn't change their belief. Aren't they the cutest piece of jewellery ? My hunt for this is on, i ve been running errands for this piece in gold/silver any as both are utterly cute.(Cant wait to get my hands on it, as i imagine myself wearing a navy blue dress and wearing this pendant long and hanging for a night out.) I am yet to stop by at the fashion haven in Cochin, THE CONVENT JUNCTION. Wonder if I ll find them there but then all thanks to technology, shopping online is way too convenient and to my luck I found one that suits me but then that will only be bought if i don't find one at the local store. Until then am going to satisfy myself with the visual treat i get looking at these outstanding fashion accessories.

Let me know if you get your hands on one of these pieces and send me a picture would love to see you flaunt them.

Cheers

Long away....

I was away for long... Apologies !! Well in spite of the long gap not much happening around,Juggling between office and home and yes shopping spree ofcourse. I was longing to do a new post but then I was a little too occupied at work and also with my sisters shopping who happens to move into a hostel soon ,also i wasn't really sure as to how should i be doing my street style hunt but yeah to much of my luck i was pretty lucky to come across fashionistas in Cochin who agreed to click pictures for the blog. I will do a post on them soon and yes ofcourse upload the pictures. So today I decided to pull an all-nighter and do the blog, not that the blog would take me the whole night but then there are things that would follow. With too many personal blogs on fashion i can surely spend the whole night reading those lovely blogs and update myself on fashion. I had so many things on my mind regarding this post and couldn't decide as to what i wanted to post and after a little brain storming i decided to do COLOR BLOCK ( thus my post is color blocked...lol ). Its the latest Fad, i see alot of spotting's of color blocking on many a women too name, some fair pretty well but for others get a stylist if you can afford one. For those who don't know what color blocking is, it combines the use of two or more blocks of color in an ensemble. This could be for a top, bottom, tunic, a dress and even a handbag or shoes. Simply it means – creating an outfit by putting areas or blocks of solid color next to each other. It can include monotone, bright colors, muted colors, contrasting and complimentary colors. Clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories can all feature color block designs or can make up different blocks of color to be put together for a color block outfit. The idea is pretty simple, large areas or entire sections of the garment are "blocked" off in one color, and then another color is used in the next block of the garment.

Color Blocking can be a tricky game if you don't know how to put the colors right, you see it is easy to go wrong and commit a fashion faux pas. So here's something i ve learnt on Color Blocking and thought would share it (thanks to Miss bee for the same).

This is a color wheel that basically explains how colors evolve and how they pair with each other.

Complimentary Colors are those that sit opposite to each other  on the color wheel : Such as Blue & Orange.

Analogous colors are those that are from the same color family : Such as Pink & Orange.

Here are a few celebrity sighting on color block

It is a fun trend but just be a little careful with the choice of colors.  For the love of colors and the season this is a must try. When in doubt use white or black as a color and block the other color against the basic color. Also one needn't splurge on green bucks to follow this trend,Wear the trend in two piece say a hot neon pink tank with a basic dark jeans or wear an electric blue jeans with a turquoise top and there you go.  You ll see alot of color blocking on our very own Indian saree, just Google it u ll know what am talking about (wink). Until then paint the town in all colors possible.

Let me know how did u color block your outfit.

Cheers !!

And they WED !!

Every site, blog, piece of information provider must be bombarded with the Royal Wedding and why not it was the most anticipated event and possibly the wedding of this generation ( well they call it the Fairytale wedding). For that how could I not do my bit on the royal wedding and give my blog a royal start. So yeah , the world has been waiting with bated breath to see what the commoner Kate Middleton would wear or who would she wear when she walks to the aisle to be the princess and yes the wait is over its Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. I had my stakes on Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen and (jumps out of joy)  it was Alexander McQueen. No second thoughts Kate looked stunning in that Sarah Burton dress. Lace and fitted bodice followed by the train... it was all screaming ROMANCE !! I personally feel the wedding dress was PERFECT, it was a right blend of traditional and modern yet so classy. Kate completely nailed the outfit and it certainly looks like she was wearing the outfit and not the outfit wearing her.

Here is a piece of information about the dress I get from a certain site, The dress was made with Individual flowers hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create a unique and organic design -  incorporating the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock. The English lace, hand embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework, was demure but pretty. I also hear that the lace on the sleeves is one of its kind, custom made for Her Royal Highness, now shouldn't she demand some royalness. It was such a fresh site to see the bride ina full sleeves gown, whereas brides these days opt for strapless fitted gowns. With these i am sure to see a change in the gowns of the future brides to be. Hunting the streets in NY/UK will surely fetch you a look like. A small birdie tells me Princess Diana's dress was out in the markets in 5 hours post wedding.

                                                    WOW !! need i say more ??

the detailing on the lace

the embroidery on the gown

This is the lady behind this piece of art

Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen

and like every fairytale ending , hope they live happily after.....

The fabulous life of the not so rich and infamous.

Alright, I wanted to get a little more active on my blog but then the worlds local bank sometimes squeezes too much work out of you and does not let you play any other role in life but a banker. So yeah the whole purpose of me getting on blog was to bring out the fashion in real people. I do wana know what Eva Longoria wore to the red carpet  or rather who she wore to the awards, who had a faux pas where, when & how. I am equally interested in knowing who did their color block well and who had a envylicious arm candy (refer my prev post love for Birkin). So yeah whoz not into celeb fashion and their oh so fabulous life but its time to get real, talk about real people who prefer shopping at a Sarojini Nagar in Delhi or a Commercial street in Bangalore than shopping at Bangkok and London a la celebrities, people who save their pocket moneys and other form of money to buy that one expensive pair of Louboutin or a drool worthy Prada bag .

I want to use this space to show amazing everyday street fashion from a simple salwar kameez clad aunty who looks stunning in her own little ways to a peppy trend following young lady/girl who knows how to carry a style. I want my understanding to go deep and bring it out to people that real people can be equally stylish and look like complete divas and a fashionista  in true sense. My blog is not gender bias FYI, I think men can be equally stylish and yes they would also be on this blog very much like the women. There are many a blogs on street fashion but they are all restricted to metros or a specific city but none for Kochi. So here's my take on Kochi  and its fashion troupe but no am not restricting it to Kochi wherever i travel my blog moves with me.

Kochi's style statement has evolved with time but then it still is no competition to the likes of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc. A fellow blogger from Kochi has given his inputs on how fashion has evolved in Kochi Life at Abhi . But I really want to see Kochi as a major style hub, yes we need a Tibetan market, we need a street side market where we can buy the most stylish outfits at an unbeatable price,we need brands like mango , promod, zara, fcuk, aldo, nine west, globus, westside etc. we need labels from the designers themselves. Lets not forget Kochi has many a number of Richie rich to afford the expensive price tag of the international /domestic designers and I would definitely want to see alot of couture girls in the city. But that doesn't mean the ordinary person on the street does not have fashion sense. Fashion is more about YOU than about your preferred brand. Materialism is passé. Fashion is a personal style statement and all about creating your signature.

And thus begins my search with my little camera and my thirst/hunger/crave for fashionistas in this upcoming fashion nation in the country. Also I would constantly attempt to try and post my own personal fashion. Until next time closing with a quote by Lord Chesterfield  - If you are not in fashion, you are nobody.
